The global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the socio-economic and political landscape of West Africa cannot be underestimated. Since the outbreak of this pandemic, the impact on human life, food systems and public health have been devastating. The containment measures instituted by national governments stifled economic activity both in the formal and informal sectors further exacerbating existing inequalities.
