Admission

Admission to WAPI is open to practitioners, students, and policy makers interested in peacebuilding, human rights awareness and advocacy, development, arms control, humanitarian aid, social welfare, and gender. Although the Institute will focus on challenges in West Africa, it is open to interested participants from other parts of Africa as WAPI is rooted in collaboration and the integration of practices and experiences. Participants will be selected on a first come first serve basis once the major criteria are met. Particular emphasis will be placed on gender balance, organizational representation and geographic as well as linguistic diversity.

Criteria

  • Fluency in spoken and written French and/or English
  • At least two years of experience in peacebuilding, relief, development, human rights or social welfare.
  • Clear goals and objectives for applying the learning of WAPI to a specific setting or program and a commitment to return home to join efforts of others in working for peace.
  • A strong recommendation from a recognized organization or person
