The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) is one of the leading peacebuilding organizations in Africa. The mandate of WANEP is to build the capacity of peacebuilding, development and human rights practitioners in Africa and worldwide on peace and security issues to promote and protect human security through context specific tools and indigenous techniques. To fulfil its mandate, WANEP holds each year in collaboration with the Kofi Annan International peacekeeping Training Centre, a three-week training session in peacebuilding in Accra, Ghana.
WAPI was established to provide specialized, intensive, and culturally sensitive training in conflict transformation and peacebuilding to individuals, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Business Community, Policy-makers, Government institutions and other relevant actors from West Africa and beyond. For the past years, WAPI has provided the space and platform for the actualization of WANEP’s vision for the prevention and resolution of conflicts in Africa. Since its inception, WAPI has also been the learning centre within WANEP for networking and the exchange of best practices in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
Thus since 2002 to date WAPI has trained over 400 practitioners in Peacebuilding Paradigms; human rights; conflict, Human Security; Youth and Peace Education; Gender and Peacebuilding, Early warning and Early response, and Workplace dispute management etc.
Objectives of WAPI:
- To develop action-oriented capacity for conflict transformation and peacebuilding
- To increase the number of competent, informed and active peacebuilding practitioners in West Africa and worldwide
- To provide quality training in peacebuilding at a reduced cost
- To develop context specific and indigenous models of conflict transformation and peacebuilding that can be integrated with existing models
- To provide skills to respond to workplace disputes in order to increase productivity for national development
- And to bridge the gap between policy and practice in peacebuilding
The training covers a range of courses on Peacebuilding; Dialogue and Mediation; Women and Gender Mainstreaming in Peacebuilding; Youth and Peace Education, Early Warning and Early Response, Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Human Security and Peacebuilding, etc. WAPI 2011 will be held at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Ghana from 05th to 23rd September 2011. We are inviting your institution to participate in one or more of our courses.

COST OF PARTICIPATION
Each course cost USD1000 (One Thousand US Dollars) including tuition, course material, feeding and accommodation, and certification.
You can apply to a maximum of three courses for the September training with one course per session as courses in each session run concurrently.
FACULTY
Faculty members of WAPI are renowned professionals and practitioners in the area of Peacebuilding. They have years of experience in the peacebuilding field and we are glad that WAPI has provided the platform for them to impart knowledge acquired to others
