Sierra Leone’s presidential, parliamentary, and local council elections has come and gone even as it was adjudged a critical test for the country’s emerging democracy 10 years after the end of the civil war with the popular saying “war don don”. From the periods leading up to the campaign and eventually the election, WANEP and its National Network in Sierra Leone has been monitoring the process and conducted various consultations aimed at ensuring peaceful elections in the country. Our observers from the national network and regional secretariat informed by our national early system reports opined that the campaign period has been generally peaceful, allowing political parties to assemble freely and to convey their message to potential voters.
