WANEP and ECOWAS end Regional Seminar on the Roles of the Police and the Media in Managing Early Warning Information

As part of its collaborative effort in the operationalization of the ECOWAS Early Warning Mechanism (ECOWARN), WANEP and ECOWAS with the support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) organized a regional seminar for the police and media between the 26th and 27th of September 2012 at De Renaissance Hotel Lagos, Nigeria.

WANEP and ECOWAS believe that the police and the media are key stakeholders in all the various pillars of early warning system. They play critical role in data collation and analysis and through their interactions with the communities become channels for the communication of early warning signals to communities under threat while also providing responses in the form of securing the lives and properties of communities in danger. ........
