Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting on Peaceful and Credible Elections in Sierra Leone: A Multi-Track Diplomacy Approach

A National Consultative Meeting geared towards identifying challenges that could confront the conduct of peaceful and credible elections in November 2012 with a view to collaboratively addressing them through a multi-stakeholders approach, was organised by The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) from the 20th to 21st June 2012 at the Taia Resort Hotel, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

45 participants drawn from diverse stakeholders including Dr. George J. Komba-Kono, Minister of State in the office of the Vice President who represented H.E. the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone; the political parties, the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the media, the academia, civil society organisations, the UN, The National Electoral Commission (NEC), Democratic institutions, security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, youth and women’s groups and the business community took part in the 2-day consultation........
