This report highlights WANEP's work and contribution to peace and security stability across West Africa in the first quarter of 2012. In line with its operating principles and structure, the national networks continue to mobilize its memberships and engage communities and national actors at all levels especially in promoting dialogue and mediation as a veritable instrument for resolving conflicts. The regional secretariat remains strategic in its provision of technical support to the national networks and the linkages to the global peace agenda.
In the quarter under review, WANEP noted the increase in peace and security challenges in the sub region as underscored in the overview of peace and security and recognize the support of our partners including ECOWAS and the Africa Union as we strive to make our contribution to reinforcing the Africa Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).
