Ms Kesia-Onam Bijoue Birch is WANEP’s Regional Program Officer of the Women in Peacebuilding (WIPNET) and represents WANEP in its partnership with ECOWAS in the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security components of the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework (ECPF). She also coordinates WANEP’s  Nonviolence and Peace Education Program and supports its 15 National Networks in the implementation of peace education programs across West Africa. Ms Birch has over ten years’ experience in women, peace and security as well as youth and peace education with strong flair for training, Negotiation, mediation, facilitation, manual development and conflict analysis. She holds a BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management from the Central University College, Accra, Ghana and a Higher National Diploma in Management and Bilingual Studies from the Accra Polytechnic. She has vast experience in consultancy and has consulted for the AU, and other International and Regional Organisations. 

A consummate trainer and facilitator, Ms Birch has a regional experience spanning various West African countries and beyond where she conceptualized, organized, conducted and facilitated trainings for women and teachers.  In 2003, she led the team which successfully planned, organized and executed the Liberian Women Peace Initiative in Ghana leading to the inclusion of Liberian women in the peace talks.  She also led in the mobilization of women in Cote d’Ivoire to engage in peace talks during the conflict and in Guinea-Bissau during the election impasse respectively. In addition to academic qualifications, Ms Birch also has professional certificates in Gender, Peace and Security from the West Africa Peacebuilding Institute; Certificate in Advanced Negotiation and Mediation from UNITAR, Diploma in Peace and Security in Africa, Uppsala University, Sweden and a Certificate in Women Executives in Leadership from Kennesaw University.
