Dans la matinée du mercredi 15 mai 2019, la ville de Béoumi, située au centre de la Côte d’Ivoire, a été le théâtre de violents affrontements entre des communautés autochtones Baoulé-Kôdêh et allochtones Malinké.

Le Bénin connait une période post-électorale tendue, marquée par des violences survenues à Cotonou et à Kandi, le 1er et le 02 mai 2019. Pour rappel, cette vague de violence est consécutive aux « élections législatives non inclusives » qui se sont tenues le 28 avril dernier, avec la participation des 2 seuls partis de la mouvance présidentielle, l’"Union Progressiste (UP)" et le "Bloc Républicain (BR)".

Democracy and Governance: In the review quarter, three West African countries viz; Nigeria, Senegal and Guinea Bissau organized relatively peaceful and credible elections. Despite the successful conduct of the elections, Nigeria witnessed technical challenges arising from logistical preparation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which led to the postponement of Presidential and National Assembly elections from February 16 to 23, 2019 and Gubernatorial, State House of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections from March 2 to 9, 2019. 

NEWS Quick Update:- Flooding in the Greater Accra Region claims 12 lives on April 15, 2019

Following the recent rains that hit some parts of the country, 12 lives have been lost in the Greater Accra Region. Five persons reportedly perished on Monday April 8, 2019, in a downpour which lasted for about two hours and destroyed properties. The second rain which lasted about 3 hours, occurred on Sunday, April 14th, 2019, with 7 people reported dead according to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
