APPEAL FOR RESTRAINT IN THE USE OF DESTRUCTIVE POLITICAL LANGUAGE

The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) has observed with deep concern, the sharp increase, during the past week, of the use of intolerant political language in our Ghanaian political discourse. The use of such language is further exacerbating political polarisation and increasing social tensions. Our concern is premised on a careful observation of the implicit negative consequences that transforms the undercurrents of politics into a front for social mobilisation along regional and/or possible ethnic cleavages. ..........
