The National Early Warning System (NEWS) is a part of the WANEP Alert and Response Mechanism (WARM) which supports the ECOWAS EW system-ECOWARN and the Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) under the Protocols Relating to the Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management, Resolution, Peacekeeping and Security in West Africa and the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) of the African Union. NEWS is an online system which has been functional since 2008. The system facilitates the generation of data from monitors and reporters across the 15 countries of West Africa. The monitors/reporters use a set of indicators related to proximate conditions of conflicts at community, district, county, state, regional and national level.

Le système national d'alerte précoce (NEWS) fait partie du mécanisme d'alerte et de réponse de WANEP (WARM) qui soutient le système d'alerte précoce de la CEDEAO (ECOWARN) et le système continental d'alerte précoce de l'UA (CEWS) dans le cadre des protocoles relatifs au mécanisme de prévention, de gestion, de résolution des conflits, de maintien de la paix et de la sécurité en Afrique de l'Ouest et de l'architecture africaine de paix et de sécurité (APSA) de l'Union africaine. NEWS est un système en ligne qui fonctionne depuis 2008. Ce système facilite la production de données par les moniteurs communautaires dans les 15 pays d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Ces moniteurs utilisent un ensemble d'indicateurs liés aux conditions immédiates des conflits au niveau de leurs communautés, districts, du comtés, régions dans leurs pays respectifs.

O Sistema Nacional de Alerta Precoce (NEWS) faz parte do Mecanismo de Alerta e Resposta WANEP (WARM) que apoia o Sistema de Alerta Precoce da CEDEAO (ECOWARN) e o Sistema Continental de Alerta Precoce da UA (CEWS) no âmbito dos Protocolos relativos ao Mecanismo de Prevenção, Gestão, Resolução, Manutenção da Paz e Segurança dos Conflitos na África Ocidental e à Arquitetura Africana de Paz e Segurança (APSA) da União Africana. O NEWS é um sistema em linha que está a funcionar desde 2008. O sistema facilita a produção de dados por monitores comunitários nos 15 países da África Ocidental. Estes monitores utilizam um conjunto de indicadores ligados às condições imediatas do conflito ao nível das suas comunidades, distritos, condados e regiões nos respectivos países.
